Norwegian playwright Jon Fosse has been awarded the 2023 Nobel Prize in Literature, the Swedish Academy announced on October 5, 2023.

Jon Fosse is a prolific and versatile writer, having published dozens of novels, and many literary theory essays and poems. He is also the most staged living playwright in Europe, a testament to the power and resonance of his work.
