Oklahoma Residents Warned of Flash Flood Risk

The flash flood warnings and flood watch for Oklahoma were issued on October 4, 2023, at 4:56 PM CDT. The flash flood warnings are in effect until 7:30 PM CDT, and the flood watch is in effect until 10 PM CDT.

National Weather Service (NWS) has issued flash flood warnings for parts of Oklahoma, including Oklahoma City, Edmond, including the Oklahoma City metro area,  Edmond, and Midwest City. The heaviest rain is expected to fall in the Oklahoma City metro area.

The NWS says that heavy rain is expected to continue to fall in these areas, and that flash flooding is likely. Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay away from flooded areas and to be aware of the potential for landslides.

The NWS says that up to 4 inches of rain could fall in some areas and that flooding is possible in low-lying areas. Residents in the affected areas are advised to be prepared to evacuate if necessary.

The NWS is urging residents to monitor the latest weather conditions and to heed any warnings that are issued.
